Why hydrogen fuel is the end game!
Around the world companies and governments are scrambling for the last drops of oil. (For details about all the "deals" read " Rising Powers, Shrinking Planet" by Michael T Klare.) In this book he details. the extent to which oil companies and governments will go to secure any remaining future oil supplies.
However, none of these efforts mean anything as all the existing oil provinces are depleting. According to the IEA of some 800 major sources of oil around the world the average depletion, (depletion is defined as the point in an oil well or oil field when approximately half of the recoverable oil has been extracted and ever after less and less oil can be had.), is running at six to seven percent per year.
By 2035 there will be a short fall of approximately fifty million barrels per day from the existing fields and another twenty million barrels per day of new demand from the worlds growing economies.
Today, in 2011, the world consumes approximately eight five million barrels per day so how on earth is oil going to continue to power ninety seven percent of transportation and some fifteen percent of electricity generation around the world.
The world vehicle fleet is currently at 800,000,000 and rapidly heading for 1,000,000,000 as China and India add millions of casr to their roads every year. (The projection is for 1,600,000,000 vehicles to be on the roads by 2035.
Exactly what fuel are they going to run on? - certainly not oil
Therefore the only way to keep transportation moving is to change to a fuel that can't run out, that can't deplete. That fuel is hydrogen.
Eleven percent of all the oceans is hydrogen and when you burn hydrogen or electrochemically convert it in a fuel cell you get water vapor back, so hydrogen fuel is endlessly recyclable.
What is beyond comprehension is why the world will spend literally trillions of dollars grubbing for the last bits of oil instead of starting the transition to hydrogen fuel.
Answer that question if you can?

Hydrogen Lifestyle
Hello USA- by Jgotthold
We've started this blog to inform people around the world that the possibility of a hydrogen lifestyle is beginning.
The ever higher cost of fossil fuel, like gasoline at the pump, heating oil in the delivery truck, natural gas in the pipeline, and coal in the rail road car is finally alerting the world that change is coming.
After thirty years of prosylitizing and developing, it finally seams that the renewed day of the electric car is now a few years away. It will take the form of the deep hybrid, or PHEV, plug in electric vehicle, but it will happen. if all the vehicles in the country were converted to some form of plug in electric vehicle and all had regeneration then the fleet mileage would double and we could cut our oil imports by half.
The conversion to electric based vehicles necessitates the rebuilding and expansion of the national electric grid. This will be emmensly beneficial to accommodate the variability of the rapidly growing contributions of wind and solar electrical generation.
The key requirement yet to be solved is the storage requirement for the variable wind and solar inputs to the grid. Several battery based installations which back up solar and wind are being implemented, but it is not possible to provide sufficient mass of battery to back up the whole grid.
The singular way to accomplish this back up on a mass scale is to convert the solar and wind energy to hydrogen and store it in massive caverns. Sceams that have been implemented before, such as pumping water up hill to a resevoir of compressing air into a cavern have been limited. With the global warming projected drouth impinging on the western states, water resevoirs are going to be problematical. Filling caverns with hydrogen stores a much greater amount of energy than just compressed air.
The stored hydrogen can be utilised as the load leveler through engine generators or through fuel cells to recover the energy and level the grid.
The greatest virtue of hydrogen is that it is scale-able. Independent Energy Research www.ier-usa.org is developing a complete independent Solar hydrogen energy system that provides 20 kW per hour of hydrogen gas and only requires sunlight and water as inputs.
An energy system that has no carbon, produces no pollution, and has storage ability to bypass storms and cloudy days is the ideal solution. Done on a distributed basis the solar hydrogen system is the ultimate; endlessly renewable, totally non-polluting, and most important of all independent. The owner controls his energy destiny!
